Age by Birth Year

Find the year you were born and read off all three Korean ages - plus the animal that year belongs to.

Know your age but not the year?

Start from your Korean age and the birth year falls out.

* The math is 2026 − your Korean age + 1. Going by international age instead? You land on two years - 2026 minus your age once your birthday has passed, one year earlier until then.

Frequently asked questions ❓

Because it starts at 1. You're 1 on the day you're born, and everyone adds a year together on January 1 instead of on their own birthday, so Korean age runs one or two years ahead. Since June 2023, Korean law and paperwork use international age, but you'll still hear Korean age in everyday conversation.
Korean age is the easy one - take 2026, subtract your age, and add 1. International age lands on two years instead: 2026 minus your age if your birthday has already passed this year, and one year earlier if it hasn't.
Both of them. Every row gives you Korean age and international age side by side so you can see the gap at a glance. Use international age for anything official.
Almost. The animal turns over at ipchun, around February 4, rather than on January 1. If you were born in January or the first few days of February, you most likely belong to the previous year's animal.
